If you’ve been following my Cancer Journey blog, you know
that taking ballroom dancing lessons is now one of my most favorite bucket list
activities. In my quest for squeezing the most joy I can out of each day, I
couldn’t have made a better choice. But when I signed up as a student at the Fred Astaire Studio in Webster,
I gained far more than a schedule for private lessons and classes—I was blessed
with a whole new family of friends who share my dancing passion.
My association with this amazing group has added a variety
of fun activities to my bucket list, including a dinner dance cruise in
Galveston, a dance competition at the San Luis Resort (see the post: Dancing
the Night Away), and most recently, a Halloween costume party—another “first”
for me.
Here I am at left wearing my homemade gypsy costume, posing
with my dance instructor, Craig Elsbury, and fellow student, Varchia Morgan.
At right are (left to right) Olga Elsbury (she and her husband, John, own the studio), me, and fellow students, Janet Cox and Liz Rios.
In the photo at left, Craig and I are dancing one of my
favorites, the East Coast Swing. He’s a great instructor who keeps me laughing
non-stop!
Later in the evening, we all lined up for a lively Merengue session with Craig challenging all the dancers to duck under the Limbo pole.
Below is a group shot of the whole gang. It was a SPOOKTACULAR EVENING that I will never forget! Thanks to my new Fred Astaire family!
More dancing to come!!!
